T H E Y 'R E O N Y O U L I K E A T A T T O O t h e y 'r e w a t c h i n g e v e r y m o v e t h a t y o u ' r e m a k i n g Lyra was thoroughly enjoying herself at the moment. It was a saturday, and the weather was relatively warm for once- usually it was overcast or raining, as was the norm in England. However, due to the nice weather, Lyra had decided she didn't need to be cooped up all day studying, and so here she was, laying down on the green grass, in an attempt to sunbathe. There were some other students around, a few sunbathing in the corner, some just walking through, but other than that, the courtyard was deserted. Lyra guessed everyone would be in the grounds, to enjoy the sunshine for however long it lasted. Which wasn't going to be that long, she was sure. She'd studied enough for the day, anyway. All she'd been doing for the past few weeks was studying. She was pretty sure she could get every grade she needed- except for Potions, probably. Potions was the one subject she really struggled with. It was just so... confusing! All the different ingredients, having to remember what they were all used for... no, thank you. She'd take transfiguration and charms any day, that was for sure.
Sighing, the slightly tan girl flung a slender arm across her eyes, shielding them from the blinding sun. She had forgotten to bring her sunglasses out with her- being a saturday, she was in her own clothes, and they were refreshingly cool. She was thankful she didn't have to wear her robes- they were stiflingly hot, after all. She'd have passed out from the heat, knowing her luck. Now, as she relaxed for once, Lyra allowed all thought of the future, of her exams, of her homework to leave her mind. She didn't need to worry about them right now. Instead, she turned to thinking about her classmates. It'd be nice to have a friend to talk to right now, about everything, just a normal conversation, but there was nobody about at the moment.
Lyra didn't mind being alone. Though she had a lot of friends, many were merely acquaintences. She had few close friends, due to her trust issues. She didn't like talking about her family or her past, or about herself really, and with friends came the awkward questions she tried so hard to avoid. So, while she was not a loner- really, she was quite well-known, for being a lot of fun- she didn't mind her alone time, either. She avoided unnecessary social interaction, even though she did enjoy messing around and talking to people. The dark haired girl yawned, her eyes closed tightly against the light. She really needed to start going to bed earlier- but she seemed to be late up every night, because of homework and studying. She was a true Ravenclaw, through and through.
That was another thing. She loved her house, loved being in Ravenclaw. It was one of the few places she felt at home- she could interact with the people around her, and because they were all rather smart, she could have an intelligent conversation with them. She did love stimulating conversation, as much as she enjoyed reading. And pulling pranks. Lyra was actually an extremely mischievous girl- people just had to be close enough to her to find this out. Sitting up, she glanced around the courtyard once again- it was filling up more now, with students milling around, getting out to enjoy the hot weather. It was also louder, and while she had initially wanted some peace and quiet, she welcomed the low buzz of excitement, as she lay back down on the grass.

I'M EXACTLY WHERE YOU LIKE ME, YOU KNOWp r a y i n g f o r l o v e i n a l a p d a n c e a n d p a y i n g i n n a i v e t yToday was an unusually sunny day.. and Lysander was making a point to enjoy it to the fullest. Rain and fog and just bad weather in general usually annoyed and disappointed him. Unfortunately for him, the gloomy weather was always lurking about in this region, and really, he was going to enjoy all the sunshine and warmth that mother nature could give him to the point of utter exhaustion. Even if he had a Charms test on Monday, and what was unusual was that the Professor had even warned them. Charms, not being Lysander's strong point, was grateful for this, until he found out that there was to be warm weather all through the weekend. Damn Professor must've known. Otherwise, why would he even mention it? Seriously, Lysander was starting to think that it was their personal goal to bring torture upon the older students of Hogwarts, 4th years and above. Which was definitely Lysander. And to think of it, he used to like Charms a lot, but he was, what, 11 when he thought that? By the age of 12, he had moved on, forgotten the joys it brought him and abandoned it to be one of his foremost and still worst subject in his life. He had to admit, he still liked Potions better and was not making the best effort that he should make for a better grade in Charms. But who cares these days, there was still a long way to go until the OWL testing began, if you thought about it, he had plenty of time for tomorrow. If it wasn't sunny and bright, that is, or else he'll have to spend another day outside against his better judgment. And fail the Charms quiz. Ah, if only he had a tutor. He started looking for someone he knew as he walked outside, along the path where the chit chat of other students - obviously enjoying this rare sunny day that actually fell on a weekend - scanning faces to see if anyone would tutor him at this nice day. He knew though, that not a lot of people were willing to give up their time to tutor someone of lesser intelligence on such a fine day like this where they were obviously out enjoying something, not being stuck with someone who needed help in class. But then again, they were outside enjoying the sunlight. Someone could very well just tutor him outside, breeze blowing ever so slightly and sunlight pouring down in decadent falls. Very fancy language there, Lysander. He could always turn back and try and attempt to study in the confines of his room, where other nerds would lurk around doing some sort of miscellaneous activity that nerds do like playing Wizard's Chess like fools. Maybe he could snatch one to help him in his dilemma. But he was already outside, all dressed in sunglasses, shorts and a t-shirt, much like most of the other population of Hogwarts. Things had changed from back twenty years ago, when wizards would dress in the most horrendous way they could in the public face of muggles. They would blend in better with robes than what they usually wore. Now, well, wizards of his age and generation found out that fashion was an issue. Well, it certainly took that long for that to happen. But he was not going to go back inside after coming all this way (about a 5 minute's walk). It would be such a waste...
And just like that Lysander changed his mind from wanting to study. Unless he came upon a super smart genius that knew Charms better than him, he was not going to worry himself with the trifles of life and Charms. Oh, spoke much too soon. As soon as he reached his intended destination where most were heading towards, he saw her. Oh, why did he have to come upon her? Today of all days, his mind still lingering on the thought of that Charms test. So help him, he was going to have to call upon a favor from her. And he really didn't want to. The silhouette had her hand above her eyes, as if the block the sun. Didn't she have a pair of sunglasses? Oh well, more the reason to go over there. Offer her his. And then ask her for the favor of tutoring. They didn't need to even more... all that much, if you thought about it. They were just learnign simple spells, like a refresher for the start of the year. That, he was glad for. But he hadn't quite mastered them from last year, and, well, it was literally quite impossible to practice charms over the summer, being underage and all. That essay the Professor had given them though, that was the real torture waiting to happen. He barely had enough "do nots" to make the bare minimum of the assignment. Well, he supposed that it was karma coming back to haunt him. And oh yes, he believed in it, alright. How many times have things backfired on him? Too many times to count.
"I think you might be needing these?" Lysander took off his sunglasses. "Here, I don't need them. Actually, I have a little favor to ask you.." And hopefully she had a wand. Oh, how was he going to word this. Very, very delicately. "I need you to tutor me for the Charms test." Or just let it all leave your mouth. That works too.

T H E Y 'R E O N Y O U L I K E A T A T T O O t h e y 'r e w a t c h i n g e v e r y m o v e t h a t y o u ' r e m a k i n g Aware that she should be studying, Lyra frowned against the hand that was shielding her eyes from the sun. Of course, she was going to pass the little test their professor had sprung on them for monday- it was her best class, after all- but a little help never hurt anyone. Though she realized she should probably be focusing more on her potions work anyway, considering she was damned sure she wasn't going to get the grade she needed for that. But she decided she could let it all slide for the day. Then study like hell tomorrow- that seemed like a plan. It was too hot to be stuck indoors, reading from dusty old books and writing pointless essays out on parchment. Way too hot. She was sure her charms professor could forgive her- if she passed the mock exam thingie of course.
Plus, judging by the amount of students who were milling around outside, she wasn't the only one with the idea of doing nothing but enjoying the weather all day. The sun would probably be gone by tomorrow- and in her eyes, everybody deserved to have at least one day off a week. Today was to be that day for her- and the majority of the student population, so it seemed. Anyway, she practically knew all the charms that would come up on the paper off by heart- she could probably do them in her sleep. Because she enjoyed the subject, she didn't mind sitting down and memorizing the spells for hours on end. Potions, however, she found tedious and boring. She just couldn't sit still long enough to understand any of it, or to remember what particular ingredient needed to be included to what, and what potion she really shouldn't drink, and what one was toxic, and what one was the antidote for that one and... it was just all rather confusing, to her!
The shadow that fell over her, made her drop her hand from her eyes, squinting into the face of the boy who stood over her. He didn't let her speak before immediately rolling into something, and she grasped the sunglasses quickly. "Thank you."
She tilted her head to the side, laughing slightly at his words. "Hello, Lysander, I've been great, thank you, and I'm not busy at all. Of course, I'd love help you with your charms." She smiled at him sweetly, before patting the grass beside her. "Sit down then. Of course, I don't do things if I have no personal gain, though... so you can help me with potions, ok." It was more of an order than a question.[/blockquote][/blockquote] tagged; lysander ! notes; that probably works better anyway :c words; 439 wearing; here!credit; lyrics to a rocket to the moon, everything else is mine

I'M EXACTLY WHERE YOU LIKE ME, YOU KNOWp r a y i n g f o r l o v e i n a l a p d a n c e a n d p a y i n g i n n a i v e t yHe should have said a greeting, but he was so caught up into the moment that he, well, he sort of just skipped that, given her the sunglasses, which she had sort of grabbed quite quickly. Perhaps he was right, she didn't bring any, did she'? Oh well, he didn't really need them, after all, he was going to be sort of not enjoying the sun and trying to get a handle on the Charms that he was supposed to memorize, but had inconsequentially forgotten the moment he had broken eye contact with the Professor. Hopefully Lyra would take up his offer of tutoring and had memorized everything. Because he had forgotten his notes. Not that it would have made any difference, it wasn't like he took great notes, and in Charms it was even worse, since he didn't get it, and though it was just an incantation and some fancy wand movements, he was utterly hopeless at it for some reason. He blamed it on his love of Potions. That had to be it. But yet, his notes were disoriented, and more often than not his writing was even more slanted as though his head were turned and not looking towards the Professor and just writing random words. Actually, that might be what he did. And often times they were illegible, blurred or too awfully written. Which was weird, because he though he had pretty decent handwriting compared to some people. Ah, well, he needed some sort of person to help anyways, he was a see and interact person instead of reading and listening person. Too bad most classes required lectures and listening and writing notes and jotting things down in a hurried manner. He didn't like it, but somehow, he had managed. All accept for Charms! You would think, after all this time of no tutors he would be adequate, but he wasn't. He barely managed to scrape past a passing grade these past four years, and he really needed to understand or some sort of nonesense in order for him to actually be serious and be what he wanted to be, which sort of required Charms as more of just an "A for Acceptable" in order for him to be able to take Charms next year in order to even get a chance to even have a chance for an "E for Exceeds Expectations." Yep, he wanted to be an Auror. After all, who didn't want to?
The OWLs were definitely something to look forward to, and knowing himself, he was probably going to be just on the edge in cracking from pressure. Luckily he was able to make a primative, but effective, Calming Draught if worst came to worst. The ingredients were not too hard to get by, and he could always sucker the Potions Professor into giving him some if he couldn't get his hands onto anything. That was a relief at the least. But enough thoughts about that, or he might just get too stressed thinking about it, after all, the big thing he needed to pass was the test on Monday. Not the OWLs. It was a long way to go. And he really did not feel like stressing himself out today. Not on this day, not when he had a test that was not as serious as the OWLs and all. Okay, he thought he was going to off of this subject. He intently turned his attention back to Lyra. Hopefully he had not missed anything she had said. Oh. Of course she would ask that.
"My pleasure. I mean for the sunglasses, of course..." Yeah, that's great, Lysander. He tried not to try and speak without thinking, but his mouth just moved on its own accord these days and he had no way of really stopping it. "I guess I should have asked how you were first, huh? Oh... well it's nice to hear you're doing well and that you have time to help tutor me." Lysander plopping onto the ground, the exact spot where her hand had just patted upon only moments before. Well, not moments, but maybe a half minute ago. "Ah, not a favor then, but a trade. I'll help you with your potions, but trust me, I am not going to go back fetching ingredients and a cauldron just for that." Unless he had the aid of Charms, and well, Charms was not something he had the ability of have the aid of. Just his luck, wasn't it?

It gave her a sense of importance and responsibility, and she liked that. Plus, she'd also said yet because she liked Lysander- he was easy to get along with, and she knew he wouldn't be too hard to teach. He had all the skills needed, he just rarely used them when it came to charms, she noticed. Which was fine by her, because tutoring him gave her the chance to turn her attention away from herself, and not think about the things she didn't want to think about. Like her family, and the upcoming OWL's and everything else she was worried and/or scared of at that current moment in time. Focusing on somebody else would give her a welcome break from all the thoughts that plagued her constantly. It was something she now looked forward to.
And, of course, there was the added fact that Lysander happened to be very good at potions. This was just what she needed, she decided. Lyra really needed to pass potions- her career choices, though not final in any way, were currently leaning more towards healer or auror. Both of which would be very good careers for her, and she believed she could achieve it. But, those two choices also needed a potions OWL to be available to her. This situation was perfect for her. She smiled when Lysander sat besides her, only half listening to his first words, just pleased that she now had something to do.
"Great. Of course, I'll get everything we need. I would just really appreciate it if you helped me. "
the dark haired girl smiled her sweetest, most charming smile, before deciding to go straight into the charms work. She was practically sorted for the exam anyway, and she knew this would only help her even further, as well as benefiting Lysander. "We'll start with the color change charm..." She took her wand out from her pocket, before pulling a book out of the bag she had brought out with her- planning to study- and glancing at Lysander patiently. "Are you alright with this one?" Without waiting for an answer, she decided to continue. "Well, just in case- you can go first, and if there's any trouble, I'll help. Just point your wand at the book, and tilt your hand quickly, like so-" She demonstrated the hand movement smoothly. "The incantation is 'multicorfors'." Lyra smiled had him pleasantly, aware she'd given him practically no chance to speak, but wanting to get straight into it. After all, it was something she enjoyed, and she didn't think he would mind her charging forward. And if he did? She'd have to use her charm- the kind that got her out of trouble with teachers- to make sure he wasn't mad at her. She realized she was overpowering at times.[/blockquote][/blockquote] tagged; lysander ! notes; I got the incantation from the lego harry potter, cause I couldn't find it anywhere else :3 words; 490 wearing; here!credit; lyrics to a rocket to the moon, everything else is mine

I'M EXACTLY WHERE YOU LIKE ME, YOU KNOWp r a y i n g f o r l o v e i n a l a p d a n c e a n d p a y i n g i n n a i v e t yNow, he had to pass. After all, he had gone through all the trouble of finding and asking. And the soon to be tedious work had better pay off too. The memorization process was going to be hell, and frankly, hell better be spend with someone barable. And that test had better be worth it too. Because, well, it just better be. Well, it might, just might, be not so horrible with this fine young lady to, well, help him. It didn't hurt that she was really good at the subject. Well, he would have hunted her down anyways if not for Charms. Hang out and just be normal friends. They were just normal friends. He had to remember that. Normal friends. Casual friends. That's it. Not even close friends, either. What was he going to do with himself, anyways? He had just the tiniest bit of a crush on a girl and he was getting in over his head -- again. How many times had this happened? Not a lot, to tell the truth, he usually didn't talk to any girls of his age, and even when he does most of the time he doesn't pay much attention. He'd let it slip, once or twice a year. And the thing was? It was always the girls who loved Charms, or at the least better at the subject than he was. Oh, he really knew how to pick 'em, didn't he? Nada.
He put all thoughts out of his mind. Friends. That was all it would ever be. Friends. Not even close friends, from what Lysander knew. That she didn't like to open up to him. Friends friends friends friends friends. Friends. Lysander was going to keep repeating it until it was etched into his brain and forever stayed in his brain for the rest of his life, or at least the part that required thinking of his friends in a different, not friend-like way. Out of mind. He willed it out of the mind. He was going to use the force. May the force be with him. Because, he was going to really, really need it. Badly.
"Oh! Yeah. Um... it's alright. I'd probably have most of the ingredients if you find that you're lacking one, though I doubt you will." Lysander smiled... genuinely, for once. "It's no problem, really. After all, you are going to help with Charms, it's only fair, right?" Hopefully, they weren't going to do anything too challenging. He could hope and pray all he wanted but he knew he was going to have to face his inner Charms demons sooner or later. He chose later, and so it seemed for Lyra as well. "The color change charm. Um..." He looked at the grass. Maybe he could change the color of that. He attempted to try to do the hand and wrist movements. "Multicorfors." The grass remained green, much to Lysander's total dismay. He tried again. He turned a sort of bluish hue, but not enough for Lysander. He was a really determined little bugger once he had started something. And then finally. Blue. Sure, there was a bit of a green tint to it, but all in all, it looked a lot like it was blue... at a distance he was sure no one would notice any green. Well, perhaps at a very very far distance away. "Uh... okay, I know that was horrible. It may take a while for me to get it on the first try." Please don't make him do it again. Please don't make him do it again. Well, it was almost expected that she'd make him do it again, though the thought was that she wasn't quite his Professor, and she couldn't possibly force him to do something. Right? Right? Though, to think of it, he wouldn't even blink to comply with anything she asked. Oh no, what was happening to him? Truth be told, he didn't know, but it wasn't unpleasant. Maybe a little.

T H E Y 'R E O N Y O U L I K E A T A T T O O t h e y 'r e w a t c h i n g e v e r y m o v e t h a t y o u ' r e m a k i n g Today, Lyra decided, was a good day to talk to people. The past week she had been rather withdrawn, but a friendly face could change all that. And Lysander was very friendly- he didn't seem like he could hurt a fly, which was just the sort of person she needed. Close friends were something Lyra didn't have many of- or any of, to be truthful- but at least she had a friend in Lysander. Well, she supposed. Unless he was just using her for charms which, she decided, would be very upsetting...she was charismatic right? People didn't just talk to her when they wanted her to help them with something academic... right? Oh, gosh, she felt rather stupid now. Maybe that was why people talked to her...but, Lyra supposed, she was getting something out of this too. So, if he was using her for charms, then she was using him right back for potions, right? She wasn't sure she was making sense to even her own mind, right now, which didn't bode well.
Pushing the insecurities out of her mind, and sliding the almost forgotten sunglasses over her eyes, Lyra decided to smile widely and hope he wasn't using her. That would make her feel like a bit of a loser... but, she supposed, she'd find the truth out if he left as soon as she'd helped him. Then she'd know he had been using her, and she supposed she'd have to get over it. Which she could. Well, at least she hoped. She'd gotten decidedly better at hiding her feelings when she wanted too, anyhow, so that would help. Hopefully.
Drawing her attention back to Lysander, she tilted her head to the side as he replied to her. At least he said he'd help her- and that he had ingredients. She appreciated his faith in her having them all, though, and she was sure she did have everything she'd need, too. "Yep, it's fair. And I'll make sure you pass this test, okay?"
. The dark haired girl watched as he attempted the spell. He wasn't as bad as she'd imagined he'd be (which she was disappointed about- if he was bad, he'd have to spend more time with her, so she'd look like she had a friend). Of course, it took him a few attempts to get the grass to look remotely blue, but it was a start! "That wasn't all that bad, at all." She smiled, trying to sound reassuring. She didn't want to be patronising. "It took me a while to get this charm.". It was a slight lie- she'd managed to turn a black book red on her second try. "Shall we try it again? Practice makes perfect, after all." Lyra smiled at him, before leaning forward and grasping his wrist. "The only problem was the hand movement- it's more of a tilt than a swish." She attempted to move his wrist in the correct way, hoping that he would understand the movement better. "If we try it just one more time, then we can move onto the next one..."[/blockquote][/blockquote] tagged; lysander ! notes; n'awh, he's adorable :3 words; 514 wearing; here!credit; lyrics to a rocket to the moon, everything else is mine

I'M EXACTLY WHERE YOU LIKE ME, YOU KNOWp r a y i n g f o r l o v e i n a l a p d a n c e a n d p a y i n g i n n a i v e t yOne day he knew he was going to be screwed. But let's not get to that quite yet. Right now he was freaking out, still freaking out to sort out the technically, about the blue grass that wasn't blue. He remembered this lesson, which was a rare feat for him. And he remembered doing it, a required thing for the class. Which usually ended up him getting a really poor score in that area. Which is how he ended up with a less than passing grade. The Professor had promised the class that it would raise their grade... a lot. Which was why Lysander was not treating this test like a regular one, where he would just shrug it off and wing it. His grade could change for the better, for once! Well, hopefully it would. But only time could tell, and if he didn't get the sudden nervousness to preform spells he just might, just might, get his grade to rise. Hopefully. Maybe he'll do well. It's just his concentration. His concentration is really screwed up these days, for what reason, he can't pin point the exact cause. He had notions, yes, he did. It could just be the overtones of stress clouding his days, or it could be the distractions he's been attracted to these days. Or his cold. Maybe that's it. It's a very small case and nothing that could stop him from going to the school, according to the nurse, but he was still sniffling. The sun had given him the chance to warm up and go outside and take a breath of fresh air. Without worrying about getting too cold and worsen everything about his condition. He had never been so thankful for sunny weather in his life.
He was going to get screwed because of his damn emotions. Screw emotions! He didn't like them, at least, he didn't like them when he showed signs of having the mushy ones, or the sad ones, or the angry ones. He likes the normal ones, though, they were barable to the very least. And now he was going head first into the pool of emotion he was going to screw up somehow and get screwed. He just knew it. He was going to have to watch it. Lysander looked at Lyra. They both have Ly- in front of their names. Well, that was a tid-bit that he hadn't noticed until now. Which have all the more reason to notice more and more things about her that he didn't know. He still wished they could be closer friends, but, well, a boy could always hope and hope and eventually either it comes true or it doesn't. The cold hard facts of life are difficult.
"Oh... uh yeah. Let's try again." He already knew that she was going to suggest something along the lines of that, but a man could always hope to take the easy way of something. But one could hardly succeed in that route, nevermind excell at it, in which he wished he would in his test. He just had a little solace, and mind you it was very little, that Lyra took a while to get this charm, but he had the suspicions that she was just telling him this to make his feel better. This time he set his task to trying to change it back to green, which hopefully, would be a little bit easier. "Multicorfors." It was starting to turn green... going closer to the shade... aw, no! "Damn. I just can't seem to get it right the first time..." He tried again. And again. And on the fifth try, he finally got it. "Well... so much for mastering that one."

T H E Y 'R E O N Y O U L I K E A T A T T O O t h e y 'r e w a t c h i n g e v e r y m o v e t h a t y o u ' r e m a k i n g Lyra knew that Lysander was supposed to be good at charms- or had used to be. Clearly, he didn't try in class anymore, and part of her wondered why, before she realized it was his own choice and his life. It was nothing to do with her, especially considering they weren't even that close... but Lyra was a naturally curious person. She decided not to say anything, though, in case her forwardness scared him off. It was nice to pretend they were friends, even if they weren't. People would look at them and think they were friends, at least. And Lyra quite liked that thought, really. Lysander seemed like the type of person who would be rather popular- probably just because he seemed so approachable. Lyra probbaly didn't seem like that. She had a temper, and her temper got her into arguments with people fairly often... people tended to stay away from her because of this, she found. But really, she was a nice girl! She just didn't like people who thought they were superior, because of silly things like their blood type, and their house. It was ridiculous, really.
But, Lyra decided, she didn't need friends. They were a distraction, and all she really needed to do was pass her OWL's and get a good career and have a good life, and she didn't need love or companionship or anything that would get in the way of that because she was fine with being alone, thank you very much. Or so, she told herself. But, really, friends would be a very nice thing to have. Studying all the time was rather tedious, especially when she knew most of the stuff anyway, and so she wished she had people so spend that wasted time with. But, unfortunately, she was just Lyra. Who didn't really have that many friends, but had a lot of enemies, and kept herself to herself, because school was her number one priority. It wasn't really much fun to be her.
She smiled at him patiently, when he agreed to try the charm again. At least, she supposed, he wasn't one of those demanding people, who listened to nothing anybody said, even when they were just trying to help them... which, incidentally, sounded a little like her. She hated asking for help off anyone... but she really did need help with her Potions, and Lysander was one of the best, so she'd had no other option, really. Shaking her head slightly, the dark haired girl watched as he performed the charm again. "Hey, you aren't going to get it on your first few goes. Practice makes perfect, right?"
She smiled reassuringly. "But we can come back to it later. Shall we do the enlarging spell, instead?" Taking his wrist once more, she tried to use it to demonstrate the swish of the charm. "Just do that, and say Engorgio. Try it on my book..." She handed it to him expectantly.[/blockquote][/blockquote] tagged; lysander ! notes; it's fine! words; 493 wearing; here!credit; lyrics to a rocket to the moon, everything else is mine
