ABILITY RULES?!
You: There are rules for abilities?
Me: Of course!
You: There are rules for abilities?
Me: Of course!
ANIMAGI?!
An Animagus is a witch or wizard who can turn into a particular animal at will. This ability is not innate: it must be acquired by magical means - in other words it must be learned from a professional. All Animagi must register at a central authority; it is illegal to obtain this ability without registering. The ministry now allow FIFTH YEARS & ABOVE to learn this ability and it is now taught at hogwarts.
ANIMAGI CANS;
- Each Animagus has a specific animal form.
- Animagus transforms it is always into the same animal/look
[/li][li] Animagi have full control over their transformations and retain their minds
[/li][li] In some cases the Animagus will change into the same animal used in the person's Patronus charm
[/li][/ul]
ANIMAGI CANT'S;
- Transform into any other animal
- Animal cannot be chosen: it is uniquely suited to that individual's personality
- An animagus is not
[/li][li] The animal cannot be that of a mythical/powerful creature e.g. salamander, basilisk, dragon. etc (if unsure please contact an admin!)
[/li][/ul][/blockquote]
METAMORPHMAGI?!
A Metamorphmagus is a witch or wizard born with the innate ability to change some or all of their appearance at will. The talent cannot be acquired; a witch or wizard who has it must be born with it. It is a rare ability and usually runs through genes.
METAMORPHMAGI CANS;
- Change their appearance completely
- Choose their looks
METAMORPHMAGI CANT'S;
- Change completely into an animal.
PARSELMOUTH?!
[/blockquote]Parseltongue is the language of snakes. It is, in the common mind, associated with Dark Magic (although Dumbledore has stated that it is not necessarily an evil quality), and those possessing the ability to speak it are very rare. It appears to be a skill acquired through both learning and genetic inheritance. There are no limits set for this ability. Please contact an admin about claiming for the ability.
SEERS?!
A Seer is a witch or wizard with the clairvoyant ability to predict future events. The predictions given through this ability can sometimes be self-fulfilling prophecies, however not all of them come true, depending on the choices made by those mentioned. This would seem to indicate that a Seer predicts possible or likely events, at least in some cases. Seers are usually trained by the ministry to help with prophecy's. They are usually known as "unspeakables".
SEER CANS;
- Predict events in the future
- Be clouded from their visions when dark magic becomes involved
- Can predict things by touch.
- Occassionally control the ability however cannot be forced into predicting certain things without being trained.
SEER CANT'S;
- Be sure their predictions will come true
- Always control their ability
- Always see things that will become true
OCCLUMENCY?!
The counter-skill to Legilimency is Occlumency (and its user, known as an Occlumens), by which one can compartmentalise one's emotions, or prevent a Legilimens from discovering thoughts or memories which contradict one's spoken words or actions. It is taught for SEVENTH YEARS + but is incredibly difficult to learn.
OCCLUMENS CANS;
- Hide memories and feelings from unwanted lurkers.
- Hide lies & deceit
- Prevent people penetrating their minds
OCCLUMENS CANT'S;
- Master the ability straight away. It takes years of practise!!
- Cannot be protected from truth spilling syrum.
LEGILIMENCY?!
Legilimency is the magical skill of extracting feelings and memories from another person's mind — a form of magical "telepathy". It also allows one to convey visions or memories to another person, whether real or imaginary. Students in their SEVENTH YEAR + can begin to learn the ability however they cannot master it.
LEGILIMENS CANS;
- Extract feelings & memories from other peoples minds.
- Detect lies and deceit in another person
- Witness memories in another person's past,
- "Plant" false visions in another's mind
LEGILIMENS CANT'S;
- Master the ability straight away. It takes years of practise!!
- Cant break through those that are Occulems.
- Overide an Unbreakable vow.
- Cannot retrieve memories/thoughts protected by ministry/dark magic.
APPARTION?!
[/blockquote]Apparition is a magical form of teleportation, through which a witch or wizard can disappear from one location and reappear in another. It is sometimes accompanied by a distinctive cracking or popping sound, though this is associated with ineptitude rather than success; the most skilled wizards can Apparate suddenly and silently that they seem to have popped out of the ground. The act is also accompanied by a very unpleasant squeezing sensation, as though being sent through a tight rubber tube.
The Ministry licenses apparition, and a witch or wizard must be 17 years old or older and have a licence to use Apparition in the same way real-world governments require individuals to have a licence to drive a motor vehicle. Students at Hogwarts may attend Ministry lessons in Apparition during their sixth year, and may take their examination once they turn seventeen.
The training is difficult, and students run the risk of splinching — being physically split between the origin and destination — which requires the assistance of the Ministry's Accidental Magic Reversal Squad to undo. Splinching is quite common during lessons, and can be uncomfortable (and at times rather gruesome) depending on the body parts splinched, but is ultimately harmless if properly reversed.
For reasons of security, the grounds of Hogwarts are protected by ancient Anti-Apparition and Anti-Disapparition spells, which prevent humans from using Apparition in the school grounds. This does not extend to magical creatures such as house-elves and phoenixes, who can still use their own form of Apparition. It is also possible to prevent individuals from using Apparition.
There are no limits set for this ability.
VEELA?!
[/blockquote]Veela are a race of semi-human, semi-magical creatures reminiscent of the Sirens of Greek mythology. They appear to be young, beautiful human women, and their appearance and especially their dance are magically seductive to almost all males. When Veela are angry, however, they transform into something more like Harpies — their faces turn into cruel-beaked bird heads and long scaly wings burst from their shoulders, and they can launch balls of fire from their hand. They are born with the veela blood. Hogwarts does not accepted half & full veelas, and it is incredibly rare to have more than a few veelas at the school due to their aggressive behaviour.
VAMPIRE?!
A Vampire is a magical being that is known for biting people on the neck and sucking their blood. They are usually pale and gaunt, with sharp teeth for puncturing the neck. They have an aversion to garlic and can be kept at bay by its presence.
Although Vampires are studied in Defence Against the Dark Arts at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, they obviously have rights and are not considered a true threat to the Wizarding community. They are however not classed as Wizards or Witches.
Vampires are widely hunted by Vampire Hunters, however they are protected within the walls of Hogwarts and the Ministry due to the act being classed as illegal.
You cannot be turned by a simple vampire bite, however this can sometimes means you've been "claimed" by a specific vampire and other vamp's are warded off by the mark. To turn a person it requires that specific person to be on the verge of death. They must then drink the blood of a vampire. Die. And then feed before their transformation is completed. It is hard and difficult to turn a vampire and requires patience and concentration.
Vampires usually live in covens due to vampire hunters currently being at large so most turn their family, or create their own. They usually go against werewolves as natural enemys but it has been known for them to unexpectedly team up.
VAMPIRE CANS;
- Live forever
- Walk in the sunlight
- See heat signatures when they choose to
- Place thoughts and memorys into anothers mind
- Be killed by fire
- Heal quickly
- Are much more strong, powerful and faster than humans
- Get blood from another source other than humans
VAMPIRE CANT'S;
- Be affected by other vampires
- Be destroyed with a cross or staking through the heart
- Be killed with the killing curse
- BE SPARKLY, WE'RE NOT TWILIGHT!
- Control themselves very well when they haven't fed
WEREWOLF?!
A Werewolf is a human who, upon the rising of the full moon, turns into a fearsome near-wolf. Werewolves can be distinguished from regular wolves by several small distinguishing characteristics, such as the pupils of the eyes, snout shape, and tufted tail. At all other times, they appear as normal humans, though will often seem to be ill as the full moon approaches. This condition is caused by infection with lycanthropy, usually occurring when a human is bitten by a transformed werewolf. There is no known cure, but the effects can be lessened with the Wolfsbane Potion. Occassionally it can be passed through genes.
Many wolf familys end up in "packs" just like wolves, in which they look out for each other and appoint an alpha - this means head of the pack. When attending hogwarts all students are required to take their wolfsbane potion and it can be provided for them.
WEREWOLF CANS;
- Change on the full moon
- Will go through an incredibly painful transformation from a human into a wolf-like creature
- Infect their victims through biting
- Without any humans nearby to attack, or other animals to occupy it, the werewolf will attack itself out of frustration
- Can heal fairly quickly but not as good as vampires
- Have a constant lust for blood, but don't usually take out humans.
- Have very bad temperments.
- Are stronger than some.
WEREWOLF CANT'S;
- Change before/after the full moon
- Infect people when not in their true form.
HYBRID?!
[/blockquote]Hybrids are a rare breed of half and half of a species. Some can be incredibly difficult to create and to keep alive. Hybrids would include, werewolf-vampire, human-vampire, merpeople-human etc etc. They would posses half and half the abilities of those listed above.
